kiosk display systems

The Goal
Our goal was to create a kiosk that can effectively sell cell phones and service
in indirect markets such as colleges and stores throughout the country without
having a sales person present and this solution will accomplish that goal.
The Sales Cycle
Consumers are attracted to the kiosk via a visual presentation using existing
marketing assets (i.e. style, logos, colors, etc.). For the outer layer we use
on the kiosk is called "gater board". This is a durable and disposable
covering that can be changed according to the marketing design and theme.
A web-like interface engages the consumer and carries them through a selection
process including the plans and product specifications. The option selections
are presented in an accumulative fashion.
Maps and products are viewed via a second monitor. The monitor will contain
additional options for better specification presentation. In other words, the
front, back, and sides of a particular phone, with its options at a scale of
300% or more. The idea would be to allow the consumer to get additional information,
via larger visual presentation, additional text, and/or audio presentation.
Consumers going through the process of selecting a purchase will be prompted
for credit approval. The process would include a request for credit authorization.
Upon completion, a receipt with a bar code is printed from the kiosk containing
customer, plan and phone information needed to checkout and step by step instructions
on how to activate the phone.
At the checkout, the cashier will simply scan the kiosk receipt and then be
prompted to scan the barcode on the phone and accessories as well. The money
will then be collected. Lastly, the phone will be activated when the customer
follows the instructions on the receipt as stated earlier.
Management by Wire
The kiosk will have an Internet connection so that it can be updated quickly
with new marketing data and software, in one submission, nationwide. This connection
will also notify the kiosk manager of any problems it may have, for example,
if it runs out of receipt paper. It will also allow demographic reporting to
track customer activity data and kiosk usage. For
more information on management by wire services, click here.
Overall, the goal is to create a process that does not require a cellular sales
representative to make the sale.
Some ideal locations for a kiosk of this type would be college campuses/book
stores, grocery stores, certain mall settings, and larger stores like Wal-Mart,
Target and K-Mart.
